Transformation

The following poem is a little rough around the edges, and will need to be re-edited  before it is included in my book when that finally is actualized.  Still, I feel it is appropriate to publish this now, as it is an important topic.  This poem was originally written in 2011.

I hope you enjoy it, or find it useful.

TRANSFORMATION

A new beginning.  How I’ve wanted that.

But I can only start from where I am.

I cannot wish myself to magically be somewhere else,

or to be someone else.

This is not to say that there is not magic

and deep, sudden transformation.

But I can only do this by being me…

now… here…

fully… in this moment.

Transformation comes through intention… and awareness…

To change consciously, I must know who and what I am.

Transformation comes from following my heart,

for this is the seat of love.

It comes from letting go of the trivialities

that distract me in my daily life.

Transformation comes from thankfulness,

and appreciation of the things that surround me.

It needs me to sense the Divine order that places each being,

and each thing, exactly where it needs to be.

I know I cannot find fulfilment when I seek things outside myself,

for then I am separate from the Universe……. and from God.

Fulfilment… and peace come from stillness…

and from connection…

and from God.

I am always only a step away from this connection,

but until now I have not chosen connection…

and appreciation.

I have not been looking in the right place.

It is said: “Seek and ye shall find”:                                                                            (Matthew 7:7)

but, I will only find peace,

when I value “appreciation”  and “connection”,

and the inherent value of each and every soul.

Outwardly I walk a different path to you,

and yet, all roads lead to Home.

And, the real truth is that I am always “home”.

All I need do is to be still and embrace the peace…..

and the Divine love…. that is within.

Feel the peace… Be the peace… and love…

Remember this.  Practise this.

And all will be well.

Go in peace…  Be peace…

Blessings be to you.

With all my love…

Alan

Spiritual Lessons: Stepping Out at the Ball

Well it’s certainly not before time that I am posting another poem.  The last month has been full of frustrations, and even today, there have been “blocks” that have restricted my selection of poem to one that I probably wouldn’t have selected.

However, as we know everything happens at just the right time and place, always.

The events of this poem are apparently real as they happened to a woman who related them to me on the one occasion I attended a formal Creative Writing group.  Even if they are not quite true, they make, I hope, an amusing, and insightful anecdote.  This poem was written in 2009.  I hope you enjoy it.

Stepping Out at the Ball

It was the evening of the dance.

I was in control…  I had it all,

for I was looking glamourous, and so mature.

I was… The Belle of this Ball.

.

But suddenly the button on my undies broke,

and I could feel inside,

beneath my dress, my knickers move,

and start a terrifying slide.

.

They hit the floor!..  I looked for the door…

My mind raced with fear and dismay,

till my inner voice said “Stay calm, dear”.

I stepped out…  and danced away.

.

So I escaped from embarrassment,

because I had not forgot,

to keep my cool.  I guess you could say,

I didn’t… get my knickers in a knot.

Some spiritual reflections:

  1. Pride comes before a fall.
  2. Don’t panic… things aren’t as bad as they seem.
  3. There is a solution to every crisis.
  4. Slow down your mind.  When it races it can spin out of control.
  5. Listen to your inner voice.
  6. Be brave.
  7. Don’t care what others think about you.

Well I hope you liked this change of pace.  Sometimes a point can be made best through humour, and life is too important to be lived “Seriously”.

Lighten up and enjoy each minute of every day.

Hopefully after this lull, I am back to regular, frequent postings.  In the meantime, take care of yourself, and live whole-ly and holily and happily.

In love and light,

Alan

Raj, the Buddha in Disguise?

Greetings.  I’m killing two (symbolically only, of course) birds with one stone by posting this poem.  Raj’s owner was keen to get a copy of this poem about her beloved pet, and it is a poem which is short and easy  to post given my continuing use of the local library’s computers.  And as an added bonus it demonstrates that I can, at least occasionally write poetry that rhymes.

Given the state of the world at the moment it is appropriate to write about something which is light and joyful.  It is so important to stay positive and good-humoured in these times of confusion.

It is great too to find sources of inspiration and upliftment in the world around us.

Enjoy.

Raj, the Buddha in Disguise?

Raj is not here, but he’s not far away,

and if I don’t see him now now, I will another day.

Raj is ever-present and for him the world is fine.

He cares not if its raining or if the sun doth shine.

He miaows with great vigour, for Raj is indeed a cat.

He loves his life and all his food, so much…

so very much, he’s getting fat.

But Raj has much to teach us, of this I’m really sure:

for he has contentment… peace…

and a love, that’s really pure.

So learn from Raj, the pussy…

Don’t let life’s “moments” get in your way.

Let go… forget your troubles…

and live each moment, of every single day.

God bless.

Reopening a Door

Greetings and good wishes.

Here’s another overdue installment of my spiritual poetry.  I do need to keep this fairly brief as I am still using one of the local library’s computers.

The following poem was written in 2013.  Any references to my painting are greatly overstated in their significance.  I am or was a dabbler at the very best.  Still it is a great pleasure to be creative in whatever manner.

I hope you have lots of creative outlets and are keeping as many doors open as possible.  I hope you enjoy this offering.

Reopening a Door

Painting again…  and now writing too.

How I’ve missed these activities…  even the painting.

I feel my spirit coming alive…

a fanning of the flames of excitement.

I feel a stillness, and a calm, reverberating, inside me…

I feel a connection to the Peace, outside me.

It’s as if I’ve opened a cobweb-covered door…

that should never have been closed.

My painting, “Watching the Darkness” lies before me.

I want to shout out: “Let there be Light”…

for there is too much darkness on this planet…

here in this town… and in my heart…

for I do not look after my heart…

I do not keep it vibrant… and excited.

I allow doors to close…

and to slowly be covered with cobwebs…

I forget to dust my mind, and my soul.

It’s as if I have a beautiful motor vehicle which I am locking in a garage,

and using sporadically, and without attention and care,

and mindfulness.

Perhaps, today will remind me that I have a beautiful heart…

and remind me to look after it…

Remind me of the things that are important…

the things that make life worth living…

and each day, so very precious.

I am a buffoon… chasing after foolishness…

and squandering the treasures, and the delights,

that lie in the simple pleasures of living in “the moment”…

in the stillness…  and in the eternal flow.

I am so blessed…

with great Love,

Alan

Treat yourself with Love and kindness, and allow the Divine flow to guide you in all things.

Life Lived in a Blur

I must apologize once again for my neglect of “duties”.  I have been spending a reasonable amount of time putting my longhand writings onto my computer, but that is no excuse for neglecting my “legion”of readers.

Seriously though I have dropped the ball here and I now understand the reason the message from an oracle card I drew yesterday, which told me to write.  I’ve been doing my poetry, but not giving due attention to my blog.  I shall try to do better in future.

This morning, I transcribed and rewrote a poem from 2010, which I would love to share with you now.

Life Lived as a Blur

Rush. Rush Rush.

Why is everyone in such a hurry?

We are always in a rush, trying to cram too many things into our lives.

We want more and more…

and our lives become full…

of emptiness.

The experiences that we have are shallow.

We allow an hour to visit a gallery… when we need a day.

We decide to go the football, and we rush…

driving too quickly in the traffic…

so we can gobble down some “food” from the take-away shop…

eating the rest of our chips as we leave.

Why do we do this?…

Little of this is satisfying…

Little of this is relaxing, or peaceful…

or “quality time”.

Life on the go… is life, lived in a blur.

The things around us flash past without definition,

and with limited comprehension or acknowledgement.

It is like travelling on a train at high speed.

While the things a long way away can be seen with some clarity,

the poles and signals just outside the window,

are glimpsed, and just as quickly… “gone”.

When we rush we usually breath shallowly.

We are stressed, and unable to fill our lungs…

We cannot take in the nourishment, that is in the air.

When we rush we tend to take large bites when we eat,

and swallow food that is not properly chewed.

We find it hard to digest our meals…

and impossible to receive full nourishment.

When we rush we do not have time for our children.

We do not have time to answer their questions…

to reassure their anxieties…

Let alone have time, to just sit, and watch them grow.

Is this how you want to live your life?

Is this how you want to raise your children?

Take some time…. Today!…

just to catch your breath… just to take stock of your life.

What is it that you really want?

What do you really need?

What can you give up, and never miss?

What will make your life… and the lives of your family, better?

Take some time to de-stress… every day.

Learn to meditate… and to listen to your higher wisdom.

Remember to make a point of checking your breathing…

and when you need to…

take some deep breaths…

Fill… your… lungs…

and r… e… l… a… x…

When you breath out.

let go… of your tension.

Take some time… to do the things that are truly important.

When at all possible, sit down with your family, when you eat your meals.

Sit down at a table and talk… about what’s going on in your lives…

about the little things… and the big things…

for all are important.

Put aside time… regularly…

for your needs…. as your happiness….

effects everyone … around you.

In summary:

Don’t try and do too much.

Don’t bother with things that are not important.

Don’t worry about things… it is people, that are important.

Be open to giving everyone your love… and your wisdom…

But, you can only do this if you take the time…

and give your attention… and your intention

to creating the s p a c e in your life…

to be in touch… and in tune…

with these parts….

of you.

Stop… Listen… Learn…

Speak from your heart…

and share… and teach…

and spread… your love.

And one final thing…. Have fun!!! along the way.

God bless.

Travel well upon on your individual journeys, my friends.  In the moment there is only peace and love and well-being.

Namaste

Alan

Everything That You Do is Important

Everyone is important.  We are all on our individual journeys of discovery and spiritual understanding.  Do not compare your journey to that of anyone else: for it is individual and unique to you.  It really does not matter what anyone else is doing, for everyone else has their own individual journeys and learnings (lessons).

What matters in so far as anything matters is that you embrace your journey and your spirituality as fully as you can.  Hopefully, you can find some inspiration in the following poem which was written in 2009.

If you are uncomfortable with the use of the word “child”, as I was when I wrote it, please remember that you are a child of the divine (God).  We all are.

Everything That You Do is Important

Everything that you do is important.

The food that you consume at breakfast is the source

of your physical nourishment for the start of your day.

Do not be distracted by thoughts of what may lie ahead of you in your day.

.

Savour your food.  Taste each mouthful.

Chew thoroughly to aid proper digestion.

Be in the moment. Live this moment to the full,

for it is the only one that is real.

.

Everything that you do is important.

Consider the words that you speak before you utter them.

Do they come from your heart?

If not, do you really need to say them?

.

Do not think that every moment in a conversation must be filled with words.

Sometimes there is a need for truthful silence…

Think about that.

.

Everything that you do is important.

Each breath that you take helps to sustain you.

.

How is your breathing?

Are your breaths slow and deep, filling your whole diaphragm?

Are you aware of your breathing?  Or, are you just going through the motions?

.

What is your haste child?

Take your time…  Breath deeply… and fully.

Be aware of your breathing.

.

Everything that you do is important.

Each thought that you have is a creative interaction with the world.

Each thought has constructive power… to create and build a better world…

or to destroy and tear it down.

.

Let each thought that you have be peaceful… and energizing…

and full of well-being.

.

Your life is precious, child.

It is a jewel of value beyond all estimation.

Do not roll it in the mire, or lose it through a careless action.

.

And most important of all… do not lose it through mindless inattention…

wasted moment after wasted moment.

.

Everything that you do is important.

Do what you must do… now… in this moment,

and let the next moments follow as they will…

one moment at a time.

God bless.

Shine Little Droplet, Shine

I believe we are all like droplets of the divine (consciousness), merged in a cosmic “ocean”.  If this sounds strange to you please take it as hyperbole or as an over-the-top allusion.  This poem was written in 2016.  I will mention before we start that I have used a rather clumsy word-form “al(l)ways” because I wanted to suggest both always (eternity) and all ways (all inclusiveness).

Shine Little Droplet, Shine

Walk lightly on the Earth. Dance joyously with others.

Sing with all the power of your breath…

and all the love in your heart.

.

Peace is our natural state of being.

Our souls vibrate in harmony with all beings

and resonate with truth.

.

There is no god but god.

The divine power reigns supreme.

The divine permeates and radiates from…

and expresses… all that is.

.

God is one…  God is all…

God is infinite…  and immanent…

and eternal…  al(l)ways.

.

Know that you are just one miracle… on one ball of rock

in one solar system, in one galaxy…

and you are so very small.

Yet, you are complete…  and you are perfect…

just as you are.

.

You are a perfect expression of the divine power, Itheshe.

You are just one drop in a vast, eternal ocean…

but, you are divine.

In you is all the essence…  all the perfection,

and expression of God…

.

You are remarkable.

Now is the time to be…

that wondrous, shiny pearl

in God’s omnipresent ocean.

.

Flow, little droplet, flow.  Be that faultless pearl.

Be the holy…  shiny being of light and love,

that is who you truly are.

.

Be at peace…

Give up your “littleness”…  and your illusions.

You are not a body…

You are not separate…  or alone.

You are intimately connected to all beings…

and to God.

.

Shine, little droplet, shine.

Dance and sing and shine!!

.

God bless.

.

Thanks for reading.  If you are unfamiliar with the expression “Itheshe” and would like to understand its use, please read the explanation at the end of  my last post: “The Creator’s Prayer”.

I wish you a peaceful, productive week.  Keep creating positively.  Things will improve soon.

In light and love,

Alan
